About the position

As a Field Service Engineer III at Applied Materials, you will play a crucial role in troubleshooting hardware, solving complex problems, and enhancing the performance of equipment used in semiconductor manufacturing. This position requires you to work both in our state-of-the-art facility and at customer sites globally, making you the face of Applied Materials and a vital part of a diverse and dynamic team. In this senior-level role, you will work independently while also mentoring junior engineers, contributing to the development and support of technology that is essential for the production of semiconductor chips and related materials. Your responsibilities will include installing, maintaining, and upgrading Applied Materials equipment, ensuring that our customers receive world-class support for their multimillion-dollar production systems. You will be expected to assist with the installation of cutting-edge customer equipment, perform scheduled preventative maintenance, and carry out corrective maintenance as needed. Following the procedures learned during training and published task plans, you will test equipment and diagnose technical problems. Completing required job documentation and safety training is essential, as is representing Applied Materials professionally to customers. You will also need to satisfy both the company's and the customer's on-site requirements, including adherence to safety, environmental, and COVID-19 guidelines. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to train junior engineers on site-related safety and troubleshooting procedures, fostering a customer-first mindset within the team.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with installing leading-edge customer equipment.
  • Perform scheduled preventative maintenance and corrective maintenance.
  • Upgrade equipment as necessary.
  • Follow procedures learned during training and published task plans to test equipment and diagnose technical problems.
  • Complete required job documentation, safety training, and procedures for processing parts.
  • Professionally represent Applied Materials to the customer, using a customer-first mindset.
  • Satisfy the company's and customer's on-site requirements, including safety, environmental, and COVID-19 guidelines.
  • Train junior engineers on site-related safety, troubleshooting procedures, and developing a customer-first mindset.

Requirements

  • An associate degree or completion of military technical training and field experience or technical certification equivalent to an associate's degree.
  • 4-7 years of work experience in the semiconductor industry or another equipment support industry.
  • Ability to read electrical and mechanical schematics.
  • Clear and effective written/verbal communication skills, with an emphasis on documenting details.
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).
  • Advanced mechanical aptitude and knowledge of pneumatics, hydraulics, electronics, vacuum, and/or thermodynamics.
  • Strong knowledge of hand tools and proper usage, including a digital multimeter.
  • Valid driver's license and the ability to obtain a passport.
