As a Field Service Engineer, you will play a crucial role in enhancing the productivity of laboratory processes and ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction through effective support. You will represent PerkinElmer, embodying our commitment to best-in-class customer service, responsiveness, and professionalism. In this role, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, validating, and repairing PerkinElmer and multivendor instrumentation at customer sites. This includes providing both scheduled and unscheduled corrective maintenance, delivering customer familiarization for instrument operation and maintenance, and communicating our service offerings, which encompass training, support, software, laboratory services products, and field upgrades. You will partner with customers to understand their analytical workflows and applications, ensuring that their needs are met effectively. Additionally, you will support local instrument sales representatives to help secure new instrument orders and drive the sale of new service agreements and upgrades. Your exceptional communication skills will be vital as you interface with peers and customers, developing an organizational awareness of other functional groups and product lines. You will also contribute to account profitability through efficient service delivery and maintain assigned assets, including company vehicles and tools. Continuous professional development is encouraged, and you will have opportunities to seek higher-level certifications through company-sponsored training and development offerings. Completing all administrative tasks, including time reporting and assigned training, is also part of your responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, validate, and repair PerkinElmer and/or multivendor instrumentation at customer sites.
  • Provide scheduled and unscheduled corrective maintenance for customers, including warranty services.
  • Deliver customer familiarization for instrument operation and maintenance.
  • Communicate service offerings including training, support, software, laboratory services products, and field upgrades.
  • Partner with customers to understand their analytical workflow and applications.
  • Support local instrument sales representatives to help secure new instrument orders.
  • Drive the sale of new service agreements, service agreement upgrades, and instrument add-ons to existing service contracts.
  • Display exceptional written and verbal communication skills and actively interface with peers and customers.
  • Develop organizational awareness of other functional groups and product lines.
  • Contribute to account profitability through efficient execution and service delivery.
  • Perform timely uploads and downloads of required service data to ensure the integrity of service systems.
  • Maintain assigned assets including company vehicle, tools, test equipment, telecommunication equipment, and assigned service parts inventory.
  • Proactively develop technical and soft skills to enhance PerkinElmer's value proposition to the customer.
  • Enhance product quality by proactively reporting improvement opportunities via the quality notification process.
  • Seek higher-level certification through participation in company-sponsored training and development offerings.
  • Complete all administrative tasks including time reporting and assigned training.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in Applied Science, Biology, Chemistry, Electronics, Mathematics, Engineering, or related discipline including military experience.
  • Ability to travel by air, vehicle, and/or other means of transportation as business requires.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot, repair, and provide qualification services.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and maintain safe motor vehicle operation.
  • Must be able to travel extensively within the service territory which includes Long Island, NYC, Northern NJ, and some parts of CT.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Experience using Microsoft 365.
  • 2+ years of laboratory and/or field service experience.
  • Exposure to analytical equipment, laboratory environment, and/or instrument control software.
  • Vendor issued certification on relevant laboratory equipment.
  • Knowledge of laboratory safety practices as defined by the Company and/or the customer's site safety code.
  • Strong interpersonal skills; strong team player with customer satisfaction focus.

Benefits

  • Annual compensation range of $65,000.00 to $85,000.00 based on qualifications and experience.
