About the position

As a Field Service Engineer at Bruker, you will play a crucial role in supporting our advanced mass spectrometry instrumentation, particularly the Bruker timsTof instruments. This position is essential for ensuring that our customers receive the highest level of service and support, which is vital for their research and development needs. You will be responsible for installing and maintaining high-resolution mass spectrometry systems, providing both remote and on-site support to our key accounts in the Midwest Territory. Your expertise will help customers familiarize themselves with the equipment, ensuring they can operate it effectively and efficiently. In this role, you will perform diagnostic analyses to determine whether on-site corrective maintenance is necessary. You will need to organize and prioritize your schedule based on customer requirements, ensuring that urgent needs are addressed promptly. After any service repair, you will re-qualify the entire instrument by running complex compounds to verify that it meets customer expectations. Securing customer acceptance of installation and maintenance sign-off will also be part of your responsibilities. You will work closely with the Service and Support Center, Regional Service Management, and Applications Specialists to ensure seamless communication and support. This position requires a strong technical background in mass spectrometry and related fields, as well as excellent customer service skills. You will need to be able to work independently, manage competing priorities, and meet deadlines in a customer-focused environment. The role may require travel up to 50% of the time, depending on customer demand, and may involve physical tasks such as lifting and working in laboratory environments.

Responsibilities

  • Familiarize and train customers for basic operation of the equipment.
  • Perform remote support and diagnostic analysis to determine independently if on-site corrective maintenance is required.
  • Organize and prioritize schedule in accordance with customer requirements to determine needs for immediate attention, via onsite visits, and remote assistance.
  • Re-qualify the entire instrument after service repair by running complex compounds for verification, in accordance with customer expectations.
  • Secure customer acceptance of installation and maintenance sign-off.
  • Perform installation of new systems, preventive and corrective maintenance.
  • Communicate and work closely with Service and Support Center, Regional Service Management and Applications Specialists.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Requirements

  • B.S. in Biotech, Biology or Chemistry related fields or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience diagnosing and repairing mass spectrometers.
  • Experience troubleshooting HPLC and nanoLC required.
  • Proven knowledge of analog electronics, high voltage circuitry/circuits, laser technology.
  • Experience with GLP and working in a regulated environment.
  • Strong technical skills involving analytical instrumentation.
  • Excellent customer focus with ability to reliably respond to inquiries, communicate and interact with customers with a range of technical expertise.
  • Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities to meet deadlines within a customer-focused work environment.
  • Focus on the designated region with ability and willingness to travel up to 50% as required by customer demand.
  • Valid Drivers' License issued by state of residence and in good standing.
