About the position

The Field Service Engineer position at Abbott involves acting as the primary account management contact for customer accounts in the medical instrumentation sector. The role focuses on improving economic profitability, increasing customer loyalty, and driving value expansion while providing first-line support and technical troubleshooting for Abbott Diagnostics products. The engineer will be responsible for managing customer relationships, conducting business reviews, and ensuring instrument uptime and performance.

Responsibilities

  • Represent Abbott and the Abbott Diagnostics Division to customers.
  • Act as a trusted partner to existing customers and manage account development according to strategic plans.
  • Deliver first-line support and technical troubleshooting, escalating issues as necessary.
  • Coordinate order, delivery, and billing processes.
  • Implement and maintain the effectiveness of the quality system.
  • Conduct customer business reviews and manage customer relationships.
  • Identify customer training requirements and coach customers on product usage.
  • Replenish and control inventory while building the Abbott brand image.
  • Collect and transmit Voice of Customer (VOC) feedback.
  • Manage service sales and product promotion to drive revenue growth.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent relevant experience required.
  • Preferred degree in Bio Medical, Engineering, Electrical, Mechanical, Medical Technology, or Commercial.
  • 2-4 years of relevant experience with laboratory instrumentation or field service.
  • Experience providing technical product application and hardware support.
  • Strong people management and communication skills.
  • Troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in computer skills including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks independently and demonstrate negotiation skills.
  • Sales skills and a commitment to customer service.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience interfacing with customers in a technical capacity.
  • Knowledge of laboratory environments and instrumentation.
