About the position

The Field Service Engineer for Medical Instrumentation at Abbott is responsible for providing on-site technical support to customers, ensuring the effective operation of diagnostic instruments. This role emphasizes customer satisfaction through proactive account management, troubleshooting, and maintenance of complex medical devices. The engineer will work closely with sales and marketing teams to enhance customer loyalty and achieve business objectives while adhering to compliance guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Provide on-site support to Abbott Diagnostic Division customers.
• Act as a trusted partner to existing customers and support district business objectives.
• Mentor other Field Service Representatives (FSRs) and provide direction.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complaints reported by customers on complex medical instruments.
• Document complaint resolutions accurately and timely, following quality system protocols.
• Schedule and complete routine preventive maintenance and installations.
• Work effectively within a diverse team environment and support on-call rotation.
• Manage territory and inventory effectively, including standby and after-hours responsibilities.
• Provide on-site critical account support and travel for training and support of other territories.
• Maintain ownership of customer issues until successful resolution or handoff.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent relevant experience required.
• Superior technical competency in medical instrumentation.
• Proactive account management skills.
• Ability to travel up to 50% of the time.
