About the position

The Field Service Engineer at Daktronics plays a crucial role in providing on-site and remote technical support for digital LED display technology and audio systems. This position involves working directly with customers to ensure the proper installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of Daktronics equipment, contributing to memorable game day experiences and supporting various events. The role requires flexibility in scheduling, including nights and weekends, and involves travel to customer sites within a designated region.

Responsibilities

  • Provide service, installation, or support during events at customer sites.
  • Deliver on-site technical and maintenance services for Control Systems and Display Systems.
  • Train Service Partners to leverage technical knowledge effectively.
  • Participate in technical training on new products and systems to enhance support capabilities.
  • Create and update knowledge base articles for internal and external use.
  • Provide technical over-the-phone support to internal and external customers.
  • Respond to customer requests for technical support through calls.
  • Assist with software application installation/configuration and provide 'how-to' assistance.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve hardware and software technical issues.

Requirements

  • Minimum of an associate degree or equivalent experience in Audio Visual/Broadcast systems.
  • Preferred: Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline such as Electronics Engineering Technology or Computer Engineering Technology.
  • Effective communication skills in various settings.
  • Ability to work positively and professionally in stressful situations.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement and a can-do attitude.
  • Strong computer skills including internet navigation, word processing, and spreadsheets.
  • Ability to work effectively as a team member.
  • Comfortable working from a home office location.
  • Valid driver's license and good driving record.
  • Ability to travel by air and ground as needed.
  • Fluent in English, both written and verbal; multilingual is a plus.
  • Ability to work at heights or from a ladder and carry tools/parts up to 45 pounds.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with technical support in a customer service environment.
  • Familiarity with Daktronics internal programs.
