About the position

As a Field Service Engineer, you will have a unique opportunity to leverage your technical expertise while collaborating with healthcare professionals and leading technical initiatives in the medical device technology sector. Your primary responsibilities will include troubleshooting, repairing, and updating medical devices, specifically focusing on a gene sequencing device in a laboratory setting. This role is designed for individuals looking to advance their technical and leadership skills in a dynamic environment. You will be expected to organize, test, and update medical devices, as well as install and configure hardware, software, and network products. The position requires you to set up and organize equipment and workstations, conduct routine checks, and record data from product tests following installation and configuration. This is a per-diem position that necessitates travel and flexibility, as you will be traveling to various locations across the United States on a weekly basis to support customer needs. Assignments will typically range from 3 to 5 days per week, and appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) will be provided prior to the start of your assignments. Responsibilities

  • Organizing, testing, and updating medical devices.
  • Installing and configuring hardware, software, and network products.
  • Setting up and organizing equipment and workstations.
  • Conducting routine checks and recording data from product tests after installation and configuration.
  • Traveling nationally to support customer needs, with weekly assignments ranging from 3-5 days per assignment.
  • Using appropriate PPE provided to all employees prior to the start of assignments.

Requirements

  • An active and unrestricted driver license is required for this position.
  • Prior experience as a Field Service Engineer preferred but not required.
  • Entry-level engineer role with 1-2 years of working experience preferred.
  • Background in electronics or Electronics and Engineering Technology (EET).
  • Ability to work independently in a team environment.
  • Ability to work effectively in a highly sensitive environment.
  • Strong communication and documentation skills.
  • Ability to travel regionally and nationally.
  • Comfortable with basic software programs and Microsoft operating system.
  • Ability to assemble and disassemble equipment and devices.
  • Ability to sit and stand for long periods of time and lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Experience in healthcare, field service, engineering, biomedical, electronics, electrical, or technical work is beneficial.

  • Experience in healthcare or biomedical fields.
  • Familiarity with medical device technology.
