About the position

The Senior Field Service Engineer or Senior Electrical Services Specialist at Siemens is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of power distribution equipment at Hyper-Scale Data Center sites. This role involves working with various electrical systems, including MV/LV switchgear, transformers, and protective relays, to ensure efficient and safe operations. The position requires a strong technical background in electrical control circuits and the ability to provide expert advice and training to customers and field employees.

Responsibilities

  • Create test scripts and MOP (Methods of Procedures) related to Data Centers Cx activities.
  • Set communication devices and topology industrial networks; upload HMI/PLC programs; install I/O and CPUs.
  • Integrate 3rd Party EPMS; perform initial testing, operation, troubleshooting, and modification of customer equipment and systems.
  • Conduct MV or LV Circuit breakers testing; analyze test results.
  • Perform Equipment Condition Assessments and troubleshoot electrical control circuits.
  • Provide on-site assistance with programming, start-up, checkout, commissioning, and validation processes.
  • Participate in job site final walk-through, complete all job closeout documentation, and provide customer training.
  • Act as a technical resource to customers and field employees, providing instructions and training on equipment operation and maintenance.
  • Complete and submit reports covering all job activity.
  • Maintain complex tools, test equipment, and calibration items.
  • Plan and estimate labor categories, rates, material costs, and transportation expenses for complex proposals (Field Service Engineers only).
  • Perform and supervise preliminary and detailed site audits to develop design concepts and schematics (Field Service Engineers only).
  • Perform Site Lead activities during the client's construction schedule, when required (Field Service Engineers only).

Requirements

  • 8 or more years of experience troubleshooting and repairing electrical control circuits and ability to obtain thermography certification.
  • 8 or more years' experience in the installation and/or maintenance of Power Automation Switchboards.
  • 8 or more years of experience using electrical test sets to perform AC and DC high potential testing, transformer turns ratio testing, transformer power factor testing, and other power system test practices and procedures.
  • Skilled at interpreting protective coordination studies and testing and configuring protective relays.
  • Capable of reading bills of material, electrical blueprints, and power system study reports.
  • Experience with the installation, commissioning, and maintenance of low and medium voltage power distribution systems.
  • Familiar with the arc flash and shock hazards of 13.8 kV and various electrical equipment.
  • Familiar with ANSI, NEC, NFPA, IEEE, and NETA codes and standards.
  • Must be able to carry and move equipment and tools weighing up to 75 pounds unassisted.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States on a continual and permanent basis without company sponsorship.
  • Must be 18 years of age and possess a valid driver's license with limited violations.
