The Field Service Engineer position at Quidel Corporation involves providing technical support and service for electromechanical equipment in healthcare settings. The position is field-based, covering the Peoria, IL area, and includes responsibilities such as troubleshooting, conducting technical training, and managing territory responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Install, operate, maintain, repair, and modify electromechanical equipment in the field.
  • Troubleshoot technical problems and systems issues.
  • Determine technical solutions in accordance with product and customer specifications.
  • Conduct technical analysis of product implementations, modifications, and enhancements.
  • Assess customer needs and recommend solutions based on product specifications.
  • Conduct technical training and product briefings with customers, vendors, and company representatives.
  • Manage all territory responsibilities including preventive maintenance and upgrades.
  • Provide service support in hospital/clinic laboratory environments.
  • Manage individual parts, online training, and administrative expense reporting.
  • Perform other work-related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Minimum of an Associate's degree in Electronics or Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent 4 years of military or field service experience required.
  • Minimum 4 years experience installing, operating, maintaining, repairing, and modifying electromechanical equipment, preferably in the field, required.
  • Self-motivated team player with appropriate interaction skills with peers, sales counterparts, and customers.
  • Ability to organize and express ideas clearly, both verbally and in writing.
  • Possess appropriate technical knowledge in electro-mechanical, chemistry, computer, and related disciplines.
  • Ability to manage assigned workload within time constraints.
  • Must be able to lift 75 lbs.
  • A valid driver's license is required.
