About the position

As a Field Service Engineer (FSE) specializing in Ports, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the successful installation, modification, testing, inspection, and repair of our company's products and equipment. This position requires a high level of technical expertise and the ability to work independently with minimal professional guidance. You will be responsible for complex technical field assignments that involve a variety of equipment, including PLCs, drives, human-machine interfaces, automation systems, rotating machinery, low voltage and medium voltage circuit breakers, transformers, switchgear, and protection relays. Your role will involve interpreting technical drawings and schematics, making necessary adjustments in the field to accurately reflect the work carried out on-site. You will also be expected to enhance your product and technical knowledge through factory or third-party training, technical manuals, and other resources. Troubleshooting and repairing equipment will be a significant part of your responsibilities, utilizing your personal knowledge and experience to resolve issues effectively. Collaboration with project managers will be essential as you coordinate site activities and, in some cases, assume the role of site manager for smaller projects. You will be tasked with recording, compiling, and analyzing data to assist in the assessment and reporting of project outcomes. Additionally, you will lead assigned field services, taking charge of planning, analysis, and reporting for projects that vary in complexity from simple to advanced.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and execute complex technical field assignments involving installation, modification, testing, inspection, or repair of company products and equipment.
  • Install, modify, test, repair, or inspect company products and equipment including PLCs, drives, human-machine interfaces, automation systems, rotating machinery, low and medium voltage circuit breakers, transformers, switchgear, and protection relays.
  • Interpret technical drawings and schematics, making necessary changes in the field to reflect work carried out on site.
  • Increase product and technical knowledge through factory or third-party training, technical manuals, and other resources.
  • Troubleshoot and repair equipment, applying personal knowledge and experience.
  • Work closely with project managers to coordinate site activity and assume the role of site manager on smaller projects.
  • Record, compile, and analyze data for assessment and reporting.
  • Lead assigned field services, responsible for planning, analysis, and reporting of projects ranging in complexity from simple to advanced.

Requirements

  • Familiarity with PLCs, low and medium voltage circuit breakers, motors, and MV power distribution preferred.
  • Ability to obtain a Transportation Workers Identification Card (TWIC).
