About the position

The Field Service Engineer for Proton Therapy is a pivotal role responsible for leading on-site missions that encompass a variety of technical tasks. This position involves performing preventative and corrective maintenance, as well as the integration and calibration of equipment during new installations. The engineer will also be tasked with delivering training to colleagues and clients, ensuring that all personnel are well-versed in the operation and maintenance of the equipment. In addition to on-site responsibilities, the role includes covering remote helpdesk shifts, providing troubleshooting and dedicated support to IBA customers after installation. This dual focus on both hands-on technical work and customer support is essential for maintaining the high standards of service that IBA is known for. The engineer will be expected to install and test equipment and systems according to defined planning, procedure timelines, operating processes, and specifications. This includes performing system troubleshooting and reporting any bugs to the Development Team for resolution. Maintaining equipment and systems according to a maintenance schedule is crucial, as is the ability to repair equipment and systems effectively, taking all necessary actions to resolve any issues that arise. The role also involves assisting in the creation of training materials and delivering training sessions to other colleagues, ensuring that knowledge is shared and that the team is equipped to handle the technology effectively. Documentation is a key aspect of this position; the engineer must document and report all interventions and actions undertaken with a high level of detail and accuracy. This ensures that all processes are transparent and that there is a clear record of maintenance and troubleshooting activities. The ability to cover remote helpdesk shifts is also a critical component of the role, as it allows for ongoing support to the installed base of equipment, ensuring that customers receive timely assistance when needed.

Responsibilities

  • Install and test equipment/systems according to the defined planning, procedure timelines, operating processes, and specifications.
  • Perform system troubleshooting and report bugs to the Development Team.
  • Maintain equipment/systems according to the maintenance schedule, and repair equipment/systems taking all necessary actions to resolve problems.
  • Assist with creation of training material and delivery of training to other colleagues.
  • Document and report interventions and actions undertaken with the required level of details and accuracy.
  • Cover the Remote Helpdesk shifts consisting of troubleshooting and dedicated support to our installed base.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science (or equivalent) in electro-mechanical field.
  • 3-5 years of related work experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • RF and power supply experience.
  • Troubleshooting experience (down to component level).
  • Cyclotron experience desired, but not required.
