About the position

The Field Service Engineer (FSE II) at Varian Medical Systems is responsible for the daily operation and maintenance of proton therapy systems, ensuring efficient clinical treatments for patients. This role involves performing maintenance, repairs, and administrative tasks, as well as providing on-site support for complex medical equipment. The engineer will work closely with customers to ensure operational quality and assist in troubleshooting and upgrades, while also coordinating with installation representatives and subcontractors.

Responsibilities

  • Perform maintenance, repair, and administrative tasks to support daily operations of proton therapy systems.
  • Provide on-site support for proton therapy equipment, including troubleshooting, service, upgrades, and installation.
  • Check and approve operational quality of system equipment.
  • Instruct customers and their technical personnel in the operation and maintenance of the system.
  • Act as a liaison with customers on administrative and technical matters for assigned projects.
  • Demonstrate equipment operation according to Customer Acceptance Procedures and Technical Bulletins.
  • Monitor system conditions and escalate issues to management or support as needed.
  • Conduct Acceptance Conditions testing during installations and upgrades to ensure compliance with schedules.
  • Maintain device history records and perform parts inventory and ordering for installations.
  • Complete field service reports using company standards.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of electronic, mechatronic, and electro-mechanical engineering principles.
  • Experience with testing equipment for verification and calibration of electronic and mechanical systems.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications and business tools.
  • Fluency in English, both written and spoken.
  • Completion of Varian internal technical training programs.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with SAP or equivalent ERP and PDM products.
  • Experience in servicing or manufacturing medical devices compliant with ISO13485 standards.
  • Knowledge of local language for customer interactions.
