About the position

Molecular Devices is seeking a dedicated Field Service Engineer to join our team in the Bay Area. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining our innovative life science instruments and fostering strong customer relationships. As a Field Service Engineer, you will serve as the primary point of contact for assigned customers, ensuring their needs are met through troubleshooting, installations, validations, maintenance, and service repairs on designated product lines. Your focus will be on customer satisfaction, building and nurturing positive professional relationships with both external and internal stakeholders. You will also play a crucial role in identifying business opportunities, such as preventive maintenance contracts and new service plans, contributing to our goal of delivering double-digit growth. In addition to your technical responsibilities, you will be expected to manage daily administrative tasks, including completing work orders, returning parts, and following up with customers. Responsibilities

  • Serve as lead to assigned customers, completing troubleshooting, installations, validations, maintenance, and service repair needs on designated product lines.
  • Focus on customer needs and satisfaction while building and fostering positive and professional relationships with both external and internal customers.
  • Identify business opportunities such as preventive maintenance contracts, new service plan leads, and new system leads to support company growth.
  • Keep up to date on daily administrative responsibilities such as completing work orders, returning parts, and following up with customers.

Requirements

  • Associate degree with 2+ years of experience troubleshooting or appropriate industry experience, or Bachelor's degree in engineering, Biology, or related field is preferred.
  • A valid driver's license and meeting Molecular Device's safe driver standards.

Nice-to-haves

  • Previous experience in scientific research instruments or a similar technical profession.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office suite of applications.
  • Ability to quickly learn and master additional software applications.
  • Hands-on experience with field instrumentation.
