About the position

The Field Service Engineer / Sr Specialist at Johnson and Johnson Vision is responsible for providing on-site technical product services, including installations, upgrades, preventative maintenance, and repairs for medical device equipment. This role requires a strong focus on customer service and technical proficiency, with a significant amount of time spent in the field (75%) and some time working from home (25%). The position emphasizes the importance of safety, compliance with procedures, and effective communication with stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Installs, services, and repairs medical device equipment in external facilities to support sales team and customers.
  • Functions as a primary resource for stakeholders.
  • Provides frequent status updates and documented service reports to stakeholders.
  • Operates efficiently to conclude all on-site installation, repair, maintenance, and test activities to factory specifications.
  • Ensures that installation, maintenance, and other work necessary is completed on time.
  • Identifies problems and recommends resolutions on existing products and procedures.
  • Analyzes service data to schedule proactive and reactive service.
  • Works closely with colleagues for knowledge and skills transfer.
  • Maintains trunk inventory, manages, and preserves calibrated test equipment and other electronic devices.
  • Able to lift or move 50lbs, stand, squat, kneel, reach for extended periods of time, utilize hand tools, electronic test equipment to repair medical lasers and other medical devices.
  • Documents and reports on field service activities as well as incorporates and promotes process improvements.
  • Conducts new product evaluations.
  • Participates in the generation of technical bulletins and basic operations and service procedures.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree or Technical Certification required (Electronics, Bio-Medical, Optical, Mechanical) is required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • A minimum of 4 years of experience in a related field.
  • Strong problem-solving, troubleshooting, and customer service skills.
  • Data analysis experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in Project Management, Presentation, and organization.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Valid US Driver's license and ability to operate a vehicle.
  • Ability to lift heavy equipment and perform tasks requiring standing, lifting, and bending.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Tableau and similar software applications.
  • Experience driving customer satisfaction and work process improvement.
