About the position

The 2025 Field Service Engineer (FSE) Summer Intern position is part of the Instrument and Enterprise Services Division (IES) at Thermo Fisher Scientific, which comprises about 3,000 colleagues. This division is dedicated to providing customized service solutions through our premier brand, Unity Lab Services. The Field Service team is committed to addressing customer needs, whether they require service on a single instrument or comprehensive resources to manage service and support for their laboratories. As a Summer Intern, you will be immersed in a unique opportunity to gain insights into the field of engineering while delivering exceptional service to customers in the field. This internship is designed as part of an “Early Talent Strategy” aimed at building a pipeline of engineering talent for Field Services. We are seeking motivated individuals who are passionate about engineering and eager to learn. The internship will last for 12 weeks, starting on June 4, 2025, and concluding around August 20, 2025. Interns will work full-time, 40 hours per week, and will have the chance to visit various customer sites within the Houston, Texas region. This will involve driving to customer locations that are less than 40 miles from your home or participating in ride-alongs with experienced Field Service Engineers. As an FSE Summer Intern, you will engage in four major components: observing and learning from experienced FSEs to understand the intricacies of the business; working on a specific project related to Field Service Engineering; showcasing your project findings to the Divisional Leadership Team; and participating in a meaningful volunteer project within your local community. This internship not only provides practical experience but also allows you to network and make a lasting impression within Thermo Fisher Scientific, Inc.

Responsibilities

  • Observe and learn from experienced Field Service Engineers to gain insights into the business.
  • Take on a specific project linked to the Field Service Engineering business.
  • Showcase project findings and share experiences with the Divisional Leadership Team.
  • Engage in a meaningful one-day volunteer project within the local community.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university pursuing a bachelor's degree in engineering, returning as a rising Senior.
  • Preferred fields include Chemistry, Science, or a related field.
  • Satisfactory academic record and good standing at the college or university.

Nice-to-haves

  • Customer Service work experience is a plus.
  • Engineering, Robotics, and/or IT work experience is a plus.
