The Field Service Engineer (FSE) Summer Intern position at Thermo Fisher Scientific is an integral part of the Instrument and Enterprise Services Division (IES), which comprises approximately 3,000 colleagues. This internship is designed as part of an 'Early Talent Strategy' aimed at cultivating a pipeline of engineering talent specifically for Field Services. The selected interns will have the opportunity to engage with experienced Field Service Engineers, gaining invaluable insights and practical knowledge about the intricacies of the business and the dedication required to deliver exceptional service to customers. Interns will be expected to visit various customer sites within the Houston, Texas region, with travel limited to locations less than 40 miles from their home base. The role is customer-facing and requires flexibility to meet the needs of the Field Service Engineer customers. Interns will work closely with mentors, completing a specific project linked to the Field Service Engineering business, which will allow them to apply their skills to real-world challenges. At the end of the internship, they will present their project findings to the Divisional Leadership Team, providing an opportunity to showcase their growth and network within the company. Additionally, interns will participate in a meaningful volunteer project that aligns with the company's values, contributing positively to the local community. This internship is a full-time commitment, requiring 40 hours per week for a duration of 12 weeks, starting on June 4, 2025, and concluding around August 20, 2025. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States and should not require sponsorship for employment visa status. The position is ideal for students currently enrolled in an accredited college or university, pursuing a bachelor's degree in engineering, with a preference for those studying Chemistry, Science, or related fields. Graduating students may apply only if they plan to return to school for further studies after the internship.
