About the position

The 2025 Field Service Engineer (FSE) Summer Intern position is part of the Instrument and Enterprise Services Division (IES) at Thermo Fisher Scientific, which comprises about 3,000 colleagues. This division is known for its premier brand, Unity Lab Services, and offers customized service solutions through its Field Service team. The team is dedicated to addressing customer needs, whether they require service on a single instrument or comprehensive resources to manage service and support for their labs. The internship is designed as part of an 'Early Talent Strategy' aimed at building a pipeline of engineering talent for Field Services. We are seeking motivated Summer Interns who are passionate about delivering exceptional service to customers in the field and are interested in pursuing a career in engineering. Upon graduation, interns will be eligible to apply for a full-time Field Service Engineer position, launching their careers in this exciting field. Interns will work remotely based in the Madison, WI region and will visit various customer sites, which are typically less than 40 miles from their homes. The role involves a full-time commitment of 40 hours per week for 12 weeks, starting on June 4, 2025, and concluding around August 20, 2025. Interns will gain invaluable insights by observing and learning from experienced Field Service Engineers, taking on specific projects linked to the Field Service Engineering business, and showcasing their findings to the Divisional Leadership Team. Additionally, interns will engage in a meaningful volunteer project within their local community, contributing to a cause that aligns with the company's values. To qualify for this internship, applicants must be currently enrolled in an accredited college or university, pursuing a bachelor's degree in engineering, and returning to school as a rising Senior. A satisfactory academic record is required, and applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States without requiring sponsorship for employment visa status. Customer service experience and knowledge of computer technology, including Microsoft Office Suite, are preferred. The role requires strong interpersonal skills, critical thinking abilities, and a self-directed approach to learning and project completion.

Responsibilities

Requirements
