About the position

Carestream Health Inc. is seeking a dedicated Field Service Engineer to support our Digital X-Ray Systems business in the Syracuse/Central NY area. This role is pivotal in managing customer relationships through the effective application of technical knowledge to install, troubleshoot, service, and maintain medical imaging equipment at customer sites. The Field Service Engineer will be responsible for generating service revenue while adhering to state and federal regulatory requirements. This position requires performing all administrative duties within established and regulatory timeframes, including timesheets, service work orders, expense reports, Field Change Orders (FCO), preventative maintenance (PM), installation documents, and other related paperwork. As a member of the regional work team, the Field Service Engineer will actively participate in improving team processes. The role involves servicing a variety of equipment, including laser printers, networks, CR & DR X-ray imaging equipment, CT scanners, and radiography equipment, primarily in hospitals and imaging centers. The position is home-based but requires possible overnight travel. A company-provided vehicle, laptop, and cell phone will be included, along with an annual incentive plan and a comprehensive benefits package. Candidates must reside within the greater Syracuse/Central NY area to be considered for this position.

Responsibilities

  • Support Digital X-Ray Systems business as a Field Service Engineer.
  • Manage customer relationships through effective technical knowledge application.
  • Install, troubleshoot, service, and maintain medical imaging equipment at customer sites.
  • Generate service revenue while adhering to regulatory requirements.
  • Perform administrative duties including timesheets, service work orders, and expense reports within established timeframes.
  • Actively participate in regional work team processes and improvements.
  • Service various equipment including laser printers, CR & DR X-ray imaging equipment, and CT scanners.
  • Work primarily in hospitals and imaging centers, providing customer support during non-regular business hours.

Requirements

  • Associate Degree in electronics or equivalent combination of education and experience; BSEE/BSEET/BSME/BSMET preferred.
  • 4+ years of experience in diagnostic imaging or electronics industry, preferably in a field service environment.
  • Knowledge of computers and networking; proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite products.
  • Ability to understand and apply electronic, mechanical, and networking theory to install, diagnose, and repair equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics and site drawings with minimal assistance.
  • Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills, self-discipline, and autonomy to work independently.
  • Ability to adapt to changing work requirements in a complex, fast-paced environment.
  • Exceptional customer service skills and effective communication with various levels of employees and customers.
  • Valid driver's license and compliant driving record.
