About the position

The Field Service Engineer position at ZOLL Resuscitation is a critical role responsible for providing technical support, service, and repair for the ZOLL TherOx SSO2 and Temperature Management product lines across the United States and North America. This position requires a deep understanding of ZOLL's Quality System procedures and compliance with work instructions and timelines related to product investigation and customer issue management. The majority of service work will be conducted on-site at customer hospitals, with occasional visits to the ZOLL manufacturing facility in San Jose, CA. The ideal candidate will be based in a Northeast or Midwest location, preferably near a major airport, and will be expected to travel up to 80% of the time within the continental US. ZOLL is dedicated to improving patient outcomes and saving lives through innovative technologies. The Acute Care Technology division focuses on advanced therapies for hospitals, including post-cardiac arrest and severe fever treatments. The Field Service Engineer will play a vital role in ensuring that ZOLL's medical devices, which are used worldwide, function optimally to diagnose and treat patients with serious cardiopulmonary and respiratory conditions. In this role, the engineer will respond to technical support requests from customers, sales teams, and clinical staff, providing both remote and hands-on troubleshooting and repair services. The engineer will also be responsible for scheduling and performing preventive maintenance, documenting service history, and providing technical training to hospital staff. Compliance with federal medical device reporting requirements and ZOLL's internal procedures is essential, as is the ability to collaborate with various teams to enhance product performance and reliability based on field findings.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support and service for ZOLL TherOx SSO2 and Temperature Management product lines.
  • Conduct on-site troubleshooting and repair activities at customer hospitals.
  • Schedule and perform Planned Preventive Maintenance for medical equipment.
  • Complete service documentation in ZOLL systems for compliance and device history.
  • Train hospital biomedical engineers and clinical staff on ZOLL Temperature Management systems.
  • Maintain compliance with ZOLL and federal medical device reporting requirements.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing engineering, supply chain, and R&D teams to improve product reliability.
  • Support sales and clinical associates with console setup and operational training.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or Biomedical Engineering preferred.
  • 4-6 years of hands-on experience in troubleshooting and repair of medical equipment, preferably in a hospital environment.
  • Thorough understanding of FDA and ISO 13485 medical device quality system standards.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to prioritize workload and meet business objectives.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills with a customer-focused attitude.
  • Strong technical skills in electromechanical and/or medical devices.
  • Ability to interact professionally with various customers in hospital settings.
  • Demonstrated self-discipline and time management skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with hospital biomedical engineering is highly preferred.
  • Familiarity with ZOLL's product lines and technologies.
