The Field Service Engineer (FSE) position at Vandenberg Air Force Base (AFB) is a critical role focused on supporting the installation, training, maintenance, inspection, adjustments, reconfiguration, and introduction of advanced security technology, specifically in the realm of Counter Unmanned Aerial Systems (CUAS). The FSE will be responsible for ensuring that all site work progresses according to schedule and meets contract specifications. This position requires a current DoD Secret Security Clearance, as the FSE will be working closely with military personnel and handling sensitive security systems. In this role, the FSE will install and maintain CUAS security systems and associated IT networks, ensuring that all technical aspects are functioning optimally. The FSE will collaborate with the site's Force Protection and Security Forces personnel to address any security system issues that arise. Additionally, the FSE will conduct security site surveys as required by Force Protection staff, providing detailed trip reports that include sensor recommendations and sensor placement derived from these surveys. Training is a significant component of this position, as the FSE will provide initial and refresher training on equipment for personnel assigned to administer and operate the system. This includes training on operational, field-level, or depot maintenance, as well as higher headquarters procedures. The FSE will also assist local Force Protection Commanders in developing security system subject matter experts within their command. The position is located on-site at Vandenberg AFB, and the FSE must be a self-starter, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple projects while maintaining excellent communication with various levels of management and stakeholders.
