About the position

The Field Service Engineer at Bio-Techne is responsible for servicing advanced protein analysis instrumentation, providing high-quality support to customers across North America, particularly in the Western US and Canada. This role involves both onsite and remote support, ensuring the proper functioning of complex scientific instruments while maintaining strong customer relationships. The position requires a blend of technical expertise, customer service skills, and the ability to work independently in a field-based environment.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver onsite and remote support to diagnose and repair complex electro-mechanical scientific instruments.
  • Maintain daily communications with customers to ensure resolution and proper follow-up.
  • Prepare samples for instrument testing as required, utilizing basic laboratory skills.
  • Complete service protocols and meet GMP documentation requirements.
  • Manage and schedule customer appointments and create detailed technical paperwork as needed.
  • Submit service reports to clients and accurately enter data into CRM software.
  • Manage personal inventory for successful repairs and cost management.
  • Collaborate with the sales team on pre and post sales inquiries and tasks.
  • Support field applications and technical support teams to resolve complex customer issues.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering or science field and 3 years of field service experience in life science, biotech, or medical industry, or 5 years of relevant experience without a degree.
  • Experience diagnosing and repairing mechanical, electrical, fluidic, pneumatic, and/or electronic equipment.
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Windows, Microsoft Office, and Salesforce.
  • Knowledge of and experience working with GMP documentation.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Experience in BSL2 and BSL3 labs.
