About the position

The SCIEX Field Service Engineer plays a crucial role in maintaining, installing, and repairing SCIEX products at both internal and external customer sites, including strategic accounts. This position is designed for individuals who thrive in a fast-paced, innovative, and customer-focused service organization. The engineer will work independently to resolve all assigned customer and technical issues, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction. Additionally, this role involves mentoring and developing less experienced staff members, contributing to the overall growth and expertise of the team. In this position, the engineer will be responsible for performing high-quality installations, repairs, and maintenance on mass spectrometers, HPLC, and capillary electrophoresis instrumentation. A solid understanding of SCIEX or competitive products is essential. The role also includes performing qualification services and customer training, which are vital for ensuring that customers can effectively utilize the products. Administrative duties such as logging service activities, expense reporting, and inventory management are also part of the job, emphasizing the importance of organization and attention to detail. The position is based in Newark, Delaware, and is fully remote, allowing for flexibility in work arrangements. The engineer will be expected to travel domestically and internationally, with up to 50% overnight travel required. This travel may involve exposure to seasonal weather based on geographic regions. The role requires a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs, as well as perform physical tasks such as walking, climbing, standing, carrying materials, stooping, kneeling, and bending at the waist.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain, install, and repair SCIEX products at customer sites.
  • Resolve assigned customer and technical issues independently.
  • Mentor and develop less experienced staff members.
  • Perform high-quality installations, repairs, and maintenance on mass spectrometers, HPLC, and capillary electrophoresis instrumentation.
  • Conduct qualification services and customer training to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Complete administrative duties including logging service activities, expense reporting, and inventory management.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree (A.S./A.A.S) or Bachelor's degree (B.S./B.A.) in Life Sciences, Chemistry, Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with LCMS and/or capillary electrophoresis is required.
  • Prior experience using and/or servicing mass spectrometry or scientific instrumentation.
  • Field Service experience in any scientific field is required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Ability to troubleshoot and follow problem-solving procedures.
  • Experience with electrical and mechanical technology and adherence to safety protocols.
