About the position

As a SIG Field Service Representative Engineer at Micron Technology, you will play a crucial role in customer support by performing on-site installations, diagnosing, and repairing complex equipment and systems. Your responsibilities will extend to conducting quality checks prior to shipment and ensuring the operational quality of system equipment. You will provide initial training to partners on the installation, operation, and maintenance of the systems, acting as a liaison between the company and partners on both administrative and technical matters for assigned projects. This role requires you to interpret partner needs and determine whether the resolution responsibility lies with sales personnel, Business Operations Analysts, or design engineering. Additionally, you will prepare reports analyzing product failure trends and serviceability issues, encompassing all aspects of field support, including system hardware and software. You will engage with diverse cultures and nationalities, enhancing your experience in a global environment.

Responsibilities

  • Travel to remote partner sites to provide on-site installation support.
  • Develop a partner training plan for assigned equipment.
  • Ensure installation documentation is detailed and complete for remote partners.
  • Promote partner self-sufficiency through training and frequent communication.
  • Provide training to remote FSR team members.
  • Facilitate bi-directional communication between appropriate partner groups and SIG Engineering.
  • Partner with the BOA team for unique customer information needs (quotes, RMA).
  • Coordinate new equipment installation schedules, upgrades, and modifications to meet partner needs.
  • Aid maintenance personnel in the identification and rectification of outstanding and difficult system failures.
  • Track material returns for warranty repair/replacement.
  • Generate Field Reports to document issues, equipment modifications, or system failures that will influence the equipment.
  • Connect with remote partners on at least a weekly basis to proactively address issues and provide unsolicited assistance.
  • Respond to partner needs/requests within 24 hours to avoid long delays with remote partners.
  • Assist partners with spares management as necessary.
  • Supervise operational, maintenance, and performance data, including partner pass downs, to understand outstanding processes and issues at each site.
  • Supervise both equipment and PCB RMA data.
  • Make appropriate recommendations to reduce field failures.
  • Analyze repetitive system failures and provide detailed failure analysis.
  • Present unbiased feedback from the field to internal and external team members.
  • Document equipment or process deficiencies using field and/or experimental data and make recommendations for feasible solutions.
  • Using DOE process, perform field qualification for new equipment, subassemblies, and design changes.
  • Track results and document in an appropriate report format.
  • Track equipment upgrades for easy reference.
  • Maintain the highest level of proficiency on SIG designed equipment.
  • Aid in requirement specifications (RS) and design reviews, giving input that will aid in manufacturing, support, and reliability.
  • Conduct reliability and feasibility experiments. Results should be documented in a report format to be shared with the various design engineering teams.
  • Assist with prototype assembly and qualification.
  • Coordinate prototype installation at the partner site.
  • Continuously work to transition support responsibilities from SIG Engineering to Field Service.
  • Provide guidance into the Final Outgoing Inspection (FOI) used by the manufacturing site for SIG crafted products.
  • Provide feedback on manufacturing issues to the appropriate CM contact and quality group.
  • Follow up on deficiencies with appropriate groups to accurate quality issues detected.
  • Aid in Systems Assembly and/or CM checkout and test procedures to minimize low tech errors.
  • Assist with content in the equipment user's guides or other documentation.
  • Compile recommended spares lists based on usage estimates.
  • Provide recommendations/direction on WEB site content that will provide Field Service team and partners easy access to all vital information needed for installation and maintenance.
  • Assist with the development of maintenance and process procedures.
  • Follow all site safety processes and procedures.
  • Apply JHA processes when needed.
  • Consistently perform job responsibilities with safety as a priority.
  • Maintain work area in an organized and orderly state in accordance with Micron's 6S program and ESD policies.

Requirements

  • Minimum AAS plus equivalent experience/background.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills in electronics, mechanics, and basic software knowledge.
  • High level of self-motivation and ability to work independently with minimal direct supervision.
  • Experimental design and data analysis skills.
  • Ability to balance multiple issues.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong soft skills.
  • Willingness to travel.
  • Experience with MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint required.
