About the position

The Field Service Engineer (FSE) at Ford Motor Company serves as the primary interface between the company and its dealers/technicians, providing essential repair assistance for challenging vehicle issues. This role is pivotal in enhancing customer satisfaction and ensuring that repairs are executed correctly on the first attempt. The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background and a commitment to customer service, thriving in dynamic and unpredictable environments. The FSE will be responsible for identifying and resolving product concerns in collaboration with Product Development and Quality teams, thereby contributing to the continuous improvement of Ford's repair processes. In this position, the FSE will support Ford and Lincoln dealerships by enhancing their repair capabilities through the provision of technical competence, tools, service repair information, and diagnostics. The role also involves developing and authoring technical documents for publication, which are crucial for maintaining high standards in vehicle repair and customer service. The FSE must be adaptable, able to travel overnight as required, and possess a customer-first mindset to tackle challenges creatively and flexibly. Candidates for this role should have a Bachelor's Degree and at least two years of experience with Microsoft Office Suite, along with a minimum of one year of automotive experience. Preferred qualifications include a degree in Automotive Technology or Management, Ford-specific automotive repair training, and hands-on vehicle repair experience with Ford or Lincoln brands. Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, as well as professionalism in customer interactions, are essential for success in this role.

Responsibilities

  • Provide repair assistance on "difficult to repair" vehicles to improve Customer Satisfaction and Fix it Right the First Time performance.
  • Support the product concern identification and resolution process with Product Development and Quality teams.
  • Provide support to Ford and Lincoln dealerships to help improve their overall repair capability (technical competence, tools and equipment, service repair information, diagnostics, etc.).
  • Support Company initiatives that enhance the vehicle diagnosis and repair process.
  • Develop and author technical documents for publication.
  • Ability to travel overnight, as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 2+ years of experience using Microsoft Office Suite
  • 1+ years of automotive experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's Degree in Automotive Technology, Automotive Management, or similar
  • Ford specific Automotive Repair Technical Training
  • Automotive dealership or independent "hands-on" vehicle repair experience, Ford and/or Lincoln Brand
  • Ability to independently plan, organize, reorganize, prioritize and problem-solve
