About The Position

Under the direction of the Director of Operations, the Field Service Engineer III travels to customer sites to install, start up, troubleshoot, or repair vacuum systems and chambers. When not on customer service visits, the Field Service Technician will support the manufacture of vacuum systems, rental equipment service, and other related tasks.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree (AA) in an electrical major or equivalent from an accredited two-year college or technical school; or five to ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical specifications and blueprints.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with customers and other employees of the Company.
  • Ability to read tape measures, and do basic math, including fractions, decimals, percentages, ratios, and proportions.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical documents and deal with both abstract and concrete variables.
  • Knowledge and skill with Microsoft Office products and Windows-based computer applications.
  • An Electrical certificate/training, especially working with high voltage power, is required.
  • A current, valid driver's license.

Nice To Haves

  • Lean Manufacturing experience.
  • Familiarity with writing service reports and using Expense software.

Responsibilities

  • Promote and provide a 'World Class Customer Experience' when interacting and working with customers, visitors, fellow colleagues, potential employees, business partners, sales representatives, and vendors.
  • Travel to customer sites within the US to install, start-up and repair vacuum systems and chambers.
  • Perform a variety of maintenance and technical support on vacuum and leak detection products and systems.
  • Provide customer support and service, including some quoting and sales.
  • Knowledge of electronics and electrical systems, i.e. NFPA 70, UL508, DC/AC/analog electronics, troubleshooting, and instrumentation.
  • Review reports and documentation from customers, and inspect malfunctioning product to resolve nature and scope of problems.
  • Experience with Program Logic Controls (PLC), operator interface, communications, and frequency programming and debugging processes.
  • Operate service vans, fork trucks, scissor lifts and overhead cranes.
  • Read control wiring, pneumatic P&ID, fluid, and vacuum systems.
  • Perform gas, water, and pneumatic system troubleshooting.
  • Program, debug, and troubleshoot PLCs.
  • Perform mechanical assembly, working with various mild steel, stainless steel, structural angles, channels, and tubing.
  • Develop working relationships with other departments to address and resolve issues.
  • Participate in cross functional teams to address and resolve manufacturing, design, and quality problems.
  • Comply with all housekeeping procedures, quality standards, and safety regulations.
  • Complete special projects, as assigned.
