About the position

The Field Service Engineer role at Actalent involves collaborating with the Engineering team to test, troubleshoot, install, and commission machines for customers. This position requires significant travel to customer sites and a strong foundation in motors, drives, and PLC experience, particularly with Allen Bradley systems.

Responsibilities

• Travel to customer sites to perform services.
• Troubleshoot and repair primarily Allen Bradley PLCs and drives, as well as some Siemens PLCs and drives.
• Install and commission automation machinery in mills.
• Read and interpret electrical schematics.
• Provide excellent customer service during field assignments.
• Receive training on programming to enhance proficiency.

Requirements

• Experience with Allen Bradley PLCs, including troubleshooting and commissioning.
• Proficiency in reading electrical schematics.
• Experience with servomotors and servo drives.
• Customer service skills.
• Experience with AC/DC motors.
• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering (or a related field) and 2-3 years of field experience, or an Associate's Degree in Electrical (or a related field) and 5 years of field experience.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience troubleshooting Allen Bradley PLCs or similar PLCs.
• Experience with Siemens or ABB drives.
• Background in the metal, steel, or aluminum industry.
