About the position

The Field Service Engineer position is a critical role within a leading manufacturer of precision CNC manufacturing cutting tools, known for its high-quality CNC machines and 5-axis systems. This company has established itself as a world-renowned producer in the industry for over 40 years, providing a stable work environment even during economic downturns. The role requires a traveling Field Service Engineer who will operate from a remote office, providing essential on-site and telephone support to customers regarding the maintenance, repair, and installation of CNC machine tools. In this position, the engineer will be responsible for creating and updating technical documentation, which is vital for ensuring that all processes and procedures are well-documented and accessible. Additionally, the engineer will assist in product development by training end customers' Service Engineers on the installation and maintenance of new product lines, thereby enhancing the overall customer experience and product reliability. Establishing and maintaining excellent communication and customer service relationships with clients is paramount, and the engineer will have the support of an in-house tech team to ensure they have backup when needed. Field Service Engineers are compensated hourly, with opportunities for overtime, including travel time. The role requires significant travel, approximately 75% of the time or more, making proximity to an airport beneficial. All travel expenses are covered, and employees are paid during travel, including compensation for weekend stays when necessary. Responsibilities

  • Provide on-site and telephone support for customers regarding maintenance, repair, and installation of CNC machine tools.
  • Create and update technical documentation.
  • Assist in product development by training end customers' Service Engineers on the installation and maintenance of new product lines.
  • Establish and maintain excellent communication and customer service relationships with clients.

Requirements

  • Experience in electrical and mechanical troubleshooting and maintenance of CNC machine tools is preferred.
  • Knowledge of metalworking, installation, repairs, and programming/operating CNC machines with 3, 5, or 7 axes is advantageous.
  • Experience with robotics (Fanuc, Mitsubishi, Haas, Mori Seiki, etc.), Siemens controls, or Heidenhain is a plus.
  • Ability to read mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, and sequence (PLC) ladder diagrams.
