About the position

As a Field Engineer at GDIT, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the functionality and reliability of critical customer systems. Your responsibilities will include providing technical support and troubleshooting, conducting installations and maintenance, and offering customer training and support. You will act as a liaison between GDIT and its customers, ensuring high levels of satisfaction and effective communication. This position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and a commitment to maintaining strong customer relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Provide on-site troubleshooting, diagnosis, and resolution of technical issues for equipment and systems.
  • Conduct root-cause analysis on hardware, software, and network issues to restore functionality.
  • Promote and provide GDIT products or services in government customer locations.
  • Maximize customer satisfaction, especially in resolving issues.
  • Provide technical advice and guidance on installation, adaptation, configuration, and enhancement of GDIT products.
  • Install, configure, and test new equipment and systems according to client specifications.
  • Perform routine maintenance and preventative care to optimize equipment performance.
  • Act as a liaison between the GDIT program and customers to increase brand loyalty.
  • Train end-users on proper system use, maintenance, and troubleshooting procedures.
  • Offer remote support to government clients as needed.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of service visits, including issues identified and solutions provided.
  • Report recurring issues and potential improvements to the GDIT program engineering and product teams.
  • Work closely with sales, product, and engineering teams to ensure high levels of service and customer satisfaction.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of related experience in technical support or field engineering.
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting hardware, software, and networking issues.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
  • Excellent communication skills to explain technical concepts to non-technical users.
  • Strong customer service orientation with a problem-solving mindset.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with communication systems including Microwave, Radar, and Video surveillance systems.
