About the position

The Field Service Engineer position involves providing technical support to customers, primarily focusing on the repair and modification of Komatsu Stamping Press Equipment. This role requires traveling to customer locations to perform repairs, conduct preventive maintenance (PM), and inspections. The engineer will be responsible for improving service and parts sales through direct customer contact, ensuring that customer relationships are maintained and enhanced. This includes supervising repairs performed by subcontractors or the customer's maintenance personnel, as well as preparing and presenting accurate service quotations to customers. The engineer will also be tasked with preparing final reports, including inspection reports, and providing warranty service and support. Regular communication with customers is essential to promote service and parts sales, and technical phone support will be provided to assist customers in repairing their equipment. Additionally, the engineer will assist in the installation of new press machines, ensuring that all technical aspects are addressed effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Providing technical support to customers.
  • Traveling to customer locations to repair or modify Komatsu Stamping Press Equipment.
  • Improving service sales and parts sales through customer contact.
  • Supervising repairs using subcontractors and/or customer maintenance personnel.
  • Performing preventive maintenance (PM) and inspections.
  • Calculating and preparing accurate quotations for service to customers.
  • Presenting quotations to customers with explanations.
  • Preparing and presenting final reports to customers, including inspection reports.
  • Providing warranty service and support.
  • Regularly contacting customers to maintain relationships and promote service and parts sales.
  • Providing technical phone support and viable product information to customers.
  • Assisting in new press machine installations.

Requirements

  • Associate degree with an emphasis in Mechanical Engineering and/or Electrical Engineering, or equivalent.
  • 1-2 years of experience in stamping press or manufacturing maintenance.
  • Ability to understand mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic drawings/diagrams.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Skilled in reading assembly and individual blueprints.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts (discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, volume).
  • Capable of defining problems, collecting data, establishing facts, and drawing valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form.
  • Solid understanding of PC and common Windows applications (Word, Excel, Access, Project).
  • Demonstrates a continuous improvement mindset and forward-thinking attitude.
  • Ability to lead, motivate, organize, and maximize productivity from direct reports.
  • Flexibility, adaptability, and effective multitasking to support company initiatives.
  • Strong communication skills across all levels of the organization.
