About the position

As a Field Support Engineer II at ZEISS, you will play a crucial role in providing field service support for our Surgical Microscopes. This position requires you to work independently with limited supervision, performing installations, repairs, upgrades, and preventative maintenance on specified Carl Zeiss Meditec instrumentation within your designated service territory. You will represent Carl Zeiss Meditec at customer locations, ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction while managing all company-issued property, including inventory, tools, diagnostic equipment, and your vehicle, in accordance with company policies. Your role will also involve maintaining professional communication with your team, customers, management, sales, and technical support. In this position, you will be responsible for diagnosing and repairing all designated products within your assigned service territory. This includes conducting preventative maintenance, installations, and upgrades according to specific training, manuals, and Carl Zeiss Meditec guidelines. You will need to assess customer needs, which may include financial impacts to their practice and the well-being of patients, and schedule, create, verify, and modify customer visits as appropriate. Daily field service reports must be completed and submitted according to written procedures, along with weekly expense reports in compliance with company policies. Additionally, you will maintain spare parts inventory according to company guidelines and support revenue growth through the promotion and retention of service agreements. Your role may also involve instructing customers on the operation and maintenance of equipment, as well as maintaining company-issued test equipment and support tools. You may be required to assist with the installation and maintenance of equipment at trade shows as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and repair all designated products within an assigned service territory, including preventative maintenance, installations, and upgrades.
  • Schedule, create, verify, and/or modify customer visits based on customer needs.
  • Complete and submit a field service report daily according to written procedures.
  • Complete and submit a weekly expense report according to company policies.
  • Maintain spare parts inventory according to company guidelines and return specific spare parts as designated by policy.
  • Support revenue growth through the promotion and retention of service agreements.
  • Interface with customers in a professional and pleasant demeanor.
  • Instruct customers on the operation and maintenance of equipment as needed.
  • Maintain company-issued test equipment and support tools, including spare parts.
  • Assist with installation and maintenance of equipment at trade shows as required.

Requirements

  • Minimum of three (3) years of related experience in Electronics, Fine Mechanics, Optics, or Medical Field Service.
  • BS in Electronics, Engineering, or Computer Technology and related fields preferred.
  • A+ and Net+ certification preferred.
  • Ability to think through difficult customer issues and generate satisfactory customer satisfaction results.
  • Must be self-directed and able to work independently with limited management oversight.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills are essential.
  • Strong computer skills are required.
  • Ability to pass required training to service fine mechanics and optics.
