About the position

The Field Service Engineer at Sun Test Systems is responsible for the installation, operation, maintenance, repair, and modification of equipment in the field. This role requires a comprehensive understanding of technical systems and the ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues effectively. The engineer will provide equipment demonstrations, training, and technical sales support, ensuring that customers are well-informed about the products and services offered. The position involves direct interaction with customers, requiring strong interpersonal skills to facilitate effective communication and collaboration. In addition to technical responsibilities, the Field Service Engineer will conduct technical analyses of product implementations and modifications, ensuring that all actions align with customer specifications. The role also includes assessing customer needs and recommending appropriate solutions, as well as managing territory responsibilities, which encompass preventive maintenance and upgrades of both software and hardware. The engineer will act as the local on-site representative for the customer's organization, providing essential service support in U.S. Military flight line and hangar operations. The position demands a proactive approach, as the engineer will be expected to manage individual parts, complete online training, and report administrative expenses. The ability to work independently while also being a part of a dynamic team is crucial. The role may require travel up to 75%, necessitating a valid driver's license and the ownership of a suitable vehicle for travel to various customer sites. Responsibilities

  • Install, operate, maintain, repair, and modify equipment in the field.
  • Provide equipment demonstrations and training to customers.
  • Offer technical sales support and sample processing.
  • Troubleshoot technical problems and systems issues.
  • Determine technical solutions in accordance with product and customer specifications.
  • Conduct technical analysis of product implementations and modifications.
  • Assess customer needs and recommend solutions based on specifications.
  • Conduct technical training and product briefings with customers and vendors.
  • Act as the local on-site representative to the customer's organization.
  • Manage all territory responsibilities including preventive maintenance and upgrades.
  • Provide service support in U.S. Military flight line and hangar operations.

  • Report administrative expenses and perform other work-related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Ability to travel up to 75%.
  • Must maintain a valid driver's license and own a suitable automobile for travel.
  • Proven delivery record with systems engineering, testing, and integration experience with hardware and software systems.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to work with diverse personnel and dynamic teams.
  • Pass background security check to obtain CAC card for US Military Base Access.
  • Experience working with US Army customers in flight line operations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to organize and express ideas clearly in individual or group situations.
  • Possess appropriate technical knowledge in electro-mechanical, chemistry, computer, or related disciplines.
  • Ability to manage assigned workload within time constraints.
