About the position

The Field Service Engineer (FSE) at Ford Motor Company serves as the primary interface between the company and its dealers/technicians, providing essential repair assistance for challenging vehicle issues. This includes providing technical support, tools, service repair information, and diagnostics to enhance the dealerships' operational efficiency. In addition to direct support, the FSE will also engage in the development and authorship of technical documents for publication, ensuring that all repair processes are well-documented and accessible. The role requires the ability to travel overnight as necessary, reflecting the need for flexibility and adaptability in addressing dealer needs across various locations. Candidates should be prepared to tackle challenges with a creative and flexible mindset, leveraging their automotive experience and technical acumen to drive improvements in vehicle diagnosis and repair processes. Responsibilities

  • Provide repair assistance on "difficult to repair" vehicles to improve Customer Satisfaction and Fix it Right the First Time performance.
  • Support the product concern identification and resolution process with Product Development and Quality teams.
  • Provide support to Ford and Lincoln dealerships to help improve their overall repair capability (technical competence, tools and equipment, service repair information, diagnostics, etc.).
  • Support Company initiatives that enhance the vehicle diagnosis and repair process.
  • Develop and author technical documents for publication.
  • Ability to travel overnight, as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Automotive Technology, Automotive Management, or similar.
  • 2+ years of experience using Microsoft Office Suite.
  • 1+ years of automotive experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Ford specific Automotive Repair Technical Training.
  • Automotive dealership or independent "hands-on" vehicle repair experience, Ford and/or Lincoln Brand.
  • Ability to independently plan, organize, reorganize, prioritize and problem-solve.
  • Professionalism including customer service/interface skills/experience.
