About the position

Westinghouse Electric is seeking a Field Service Engineer - Nuclear / Mechanical to join our Reactor Services Technology team. This entry-level position is an exciting opportunity for recent graduates or those with limited experience in mechanical engineering. The primary focus of this role will be on performing design tasks related to new and existing tooling utilized in the assembly and disassembly of nuclear reactors globally. The successful candidate will be responsible for the design, maintenance, troubleshooting, documentation, and practical application of a wide range of tools essential for reactor services. This position is based at our Waltz Mill facility in Madison, PA, and will involve travel to various locations as needed. As a Field Service Engineer, you will be part of a dynamic team that is committed to providing innovative solutions in the nuclear energy sector. You will have the opportunity to work closely with experienced engineers and contribute to projects that are critical to the safe and efficient operation of nuclear facilities. Your role will require a strong understanding of mechanical design principles, as well as proficiency in software tools such as Microsoft Office and Autodesk Inventor. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, are essential for success in this position. You will also be expected to collaborate with team members to achieve project goals and ensure high-quality outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Perform design tasks on new and existing tooling for nuclear reactor assembly and disassembly.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot a variety of tools used in reactor services.
  • Document design processes and tool specifications.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure project objectives are met.
  • Utilize software tools such as Autodesk Inventor for design purposes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering.
  • 1 - 3 years of relevant professional experience.
  • General mechanical design understanding.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Experience with Autodesk Inventor or similar design software.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and logical thinking ability.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Nuclear Engineering (preferred but not required).
