About the position

Peraton is seeking a Theatre Mission Planning Center (TMPC) Field Service Engineer to join our team at the Washington Planning Center (WPC) located in the Washington Navy Yard, DC. This position involves direct interaction with our customer on-site, providing essential support and expertise in the configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of various operating systems including Microsoft and Linux. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the operational integrity of TMPC products developed by Peraton, which play a critical role in national security missions. As a Field Service Engineer, you will be tasked with diagnosing and resolving system and software issues, maintaining systems through regular software and security updates, and supporting system upgrades and installations. Additionally, you will assist in the cyber security accreditation process for the TMPC, investigate and report any software discrepancies, and support test events and other related customer requirements. This role is vital in ensuring that our systems are secure, up-to-date, and functioning optimally to meet the needs of our customers. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, particularly with Microsoft products, and will be well-versed in operating systems such as Windows 10/11, Server 2016/2019, and RedHat 7.x/8.x/9.x. You will also need to possess a solid understanding of networking principles and demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills. This position requires an active DoD Top Secret/SCI clearance and the ability to obtain necessary certifications within specified timeframes.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • 5 years of experience with a BS/BA, 3 years with an MS/MA, or 9 years of applicable experience in lieu of a degree
  • Active DoD Top Secret/SCI clearance
  • Must have or obtain DoD Directive 8570 Information Assurance compliance (Security+ certification) within 3 months
  • Must obtain Computing Environment compliance within 6 months
  • Technical knowledge and experience with Microsoft products, including Operating Systems, SQL, PowerShell, and Office
  • Strong Windows background - Windows/RedHat
  • General knowledge of networking
  • Possess good oral and written skills

Nice-to-haves

  • Prior US Navy experience with Tomahawk background
  • Operational knowledge of Theatre Mission Planning Center (TMPC)
  • Possess software and/or systems engineering skills
