About the position

As a Field Service Engineer at General Dynamics Information Technology (GDIT), you will play a crucial role in ensuring the functionality and reliability of critical customer systems. Your responsibilities will include providing technical support, troubleshooting, installation, and maintenance of equipment and systems, while maximizing customer satisfaction. You will act as a liaison between GDIT and its government clients, ensuring effective communication and support, and contributing to the continuous improvement of services offered.

Responsibilities

  • Provide on-site troubleshooting, diagnosis, and resolution of technical issues for equipment and systems.
  • Conduct root-cause analysis on hardware, software, and network issues to restore functionality.
  • Promote and provide GDIT products or services in government customer locations.
  • Maximize customer satisfaction, especially in resolving issues.
  • Provide technical advice and guidance on installation, adaptation, configuration, and enhancement of GDIT technical products.
  • Install, configure, and test new equipment and systems according to client specifications.
  • Perform routine maintenance and preventative care to optimize equipment performance.
  • Act as a liaison between the GDIT program and customers to increase brand loyalty.
  • Train end-users on proper system use, maintenance, and troubleshooting procedures.
  • Offer remote support to government clients as needed.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of service visits, including issues identified and solutions provided.
  • Report recurring issues and potential improvements to the GDIT program engineering and product teams.
  • Work closely with sales, product, and engineering teams to ensure high levels of service and customer satisfaction.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of related experience in field engineering or technical support.
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting hardware, software, and networking issues.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
  • Excellent communication skills to explain technical concepts to non-technical users.
  • Strong customer service orientation with a problem-solving mindset.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with communication systems including Microwave, Radar, and Video surveillance systems.
  • Bachelor of Science degree preferred.
