About the position

The Field Service Technician role involves providing on-site technical support and maintenance for Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) systems and other critical power equipment. Technicians will travel regionally to client locations, primarily in the NYC/NJ Metro area, to ensure the reliability and functionality of power electronics. The position requires a blend of technical expertise and customer service skills, with a focus on delivering timely and effective solutions to clients' needs.

Responsibilities

  • Commissioning, maintaining, and providing emergency support on power electronics at customer sites.
  • Render technical on-site and phone assistance to customers.
  • Perform general and preventive maintenance on Uninterruptable Power Supply systems.
  • Respond to emergency calls at customer's request.
  • Strive to provide all customers a 'first time fix' for their equipment.
  • Provide accurate and timely communication to internal and external customers.
  • Keep current on Safety Field Change Notices and Service Tips.
  • Provide accurate and timely reporting of expense reports and Field Service Reports.

Requirements

  • 5+ years' experience in the field with the ability to troubleshoot down to component level on equipment such as UPS, batteries, PDU's, Static Automatic Transfer Switches, and other electrical equipment.
  • Technical Degree in Electronics or Military Electronics Training is a plus.
  • Previous military experience and training is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of OHM's law and electronic theory.
  • Prior field service experience required.
  • 3 phase/480v experience required.
  • Familiarity with electrical/electronic test equipment and fundamentals.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical line diagrams and blueprints.
  • Ability to evaluate the operating conditions of equipment.
  • Standard computer skills including MS Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Mechanical aptitude.
  • Clear, concise, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to interact comfortably with all levels of internal and external customers.
  • Self-motivation to manage one's own schedule.

Nice-to-haves

  • UPS OEM factory training or experience in Liebert (Vertiv) / Emerson, APC / MGE, Eaton / Powerware, Toshiba, Mitsubishi.
