About the position

The Field Service Manager (FSM) will lead the service hub for a company specializing in preventative maintenance and repair of analytical instruments for laboratory customers. This role is critical for the ongoing operations and growth of the Seattle team, requiring both technical expertise and managerial skills. The FSM will provide in-field service, support business development, and oversee the hiring and training of the engineering team, while also monitoring service performance metrics.

Responsibilities

• Lead from the front by performing technical service for customers in the field.
• Uphold the company's core values and establish the culture for the region.
• Participate in the hiring and training process for the regional engineering team.
• Manage daily activities of the field service team to ensure timely service delivery.
• Provide technical support and guidance to field service technicians.
• Establish and maintain strong relationships with customers for satisfaction and retention.
• Monitor and manage service delivery metrics for the field service team.
• Identify opportunities for process improvement and optimization.
• Manage warehouse staff for inventory control.
• Communicate regularly and professionally with all relevant stakeholders.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree
• 5+ years of experience as an analytical equipment field service engineer for a major OEM (e.g., Sciex, Waters, Agilent, Shimadzu, Thermo Fisher)
• Technical expertise in analytical instrumentation
• Strong communication skills with stakeholders
• Ability to lead with confidence and empathy
• Track record of using data and processes for decision-making
• Critical thinking skills to identify trends and improvement opportunities
• Organizational skills and process discipline.

Nice-to-haves

• Laboratory experience (1 year preferred)
