About the position

The Field Service Technician I at Texas First Rentals is responsible for providing face-to-face customer service at off-site locations, focusing on minor troubleshooting, diagnosing, repairing, and reconditioning various light and heavy industrial rental equipment. The role emphasizes safety, collaboration, and ongoing self-development, aligning with the company's mission and core values.

Responsibilities

  • Provide face-to-face customer service at off-site locations.
  • Perform minor repairs and troubleshooting with minimal supervision.
  • Diagnose equipment malfunctions and failures.
  • Remove and install parts, disassemble and assemble basic components.
  • Test and verify proper operation of all repairs.
  • Prepare and complete job-related documents and service reports.
  • Operate equipment and vehicles, maintaining necessary licenses and certificates.
  • Maintain service vehicle inspection records and driver logs as required.
  • Adhere to contamination control and HAZMAT rules and regulations.
  • Maintain all company equipment, tools, and vehicles in good working order.
  • Communicate job progress to supervisor and customer as needed.
  • Complete assigned jobs to meet flat rate time and re-work standards.
  • Work overtime as required by workload and customer needs.
  • Complete all assigned Technician Training Path courses and safety training in a timely manner.
  • Project professionalism with both internal and external customers.

Requirements

  • More than one year of heavy equipment experience required; three or more years preferred.
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Valid Driver's license required.
  • Ability to obtain a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
  • Basic knowledge of equipment and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
  • Basic knowledge of hydraulics, transmissions, engines, undercarriage, and electrical systems.

Nice-to-haves

  • MSHA certification preferred.
  • Air conditioning certification preferred.
  • Crane/Rigger certifications preferred.
