About the position

The Field Service Technician role at Premier Tech involves servicing, maintaining, and upgrading industrial automation and packaging equipment. The technician acts as a trusted advisor to customers, helping them implement manufacturing and corporate objectives through integrated solutions. The position requires a focus on enhancing equipment performance and productivity, ensuring customer satisfaction through various services such as audits, maintenance plans, and training recommendations.

Responsibilities

  • Service, maintain, and upgrade new and existing industrial automation and packaging equipment.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to support customers in implementing their manufacturing and corporate objectives.
  • Provide customers with a complete understanding of how to elevate the performance and productivity of their equipment.
  • Manage uptime by proactively identifying and addressing customers' challenges.
  • Advise and train customers on the equipment.
  • Understand and integrate customer operations and management needs into clear actions and recommendations.
  • Facilitate a harmonious relationship with customers and team members across functions.
  • Report daily on activity, book travels, and report timesheet and expenses in a timely manner.
  • Provide technical phone support for troubleshooting and supporting colleagues.
  • Maintain availability for communication with management and customers.
  • Promote services, parts, retrofits, and training recommendations to customers.
  • Audit equipment and provide recommendations to optimize uptime.
  • Test equipment to ensure it meets safety regulations.
  • Promote health and safety to mitigate risks and safety issues.
  • Adapt to a changing travel and work schedule, with a minimum of 75% travel expected.
  • Work up to 12 hours per day, possibly nights and weekends as per customer request.

Requirements

  • Proven work experience as a field service technician with electromechanical, pneumatic, or hydraulic equipment.
  • Associate degree with emphasis in mechanical, electrical, or automation.
  • Ability to interpret electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic schematics.
  • PLC troubleshooting experience, including the ability to upload and download programs.
  • High safety proficiency.
  • Consultative selling skills.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Great communication and training skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Ability to climb a ladder and lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
  • Valid US passport and up-to-date state driver's license.
  • US citizen to access some customer locations; no criminal convictions to inhibit international travel.

Nice-to-haves

  • Service of packaging machinery experience is an asset.
  • Experience with robotics, specifically FANUC or similar.
