About the position
The Field Service Technician role at Vermeer Midwest involves providing service and maintenance for heavy equipment in the Battle Creek area. This position requires traveling to customer sites to diagnose, repair, and maintain vehicles and equipment, ensuring they operate efficiently and safely. The technician will work independently, utilizing their mechanical and electrical expertise to perform complex repairs and inspections while maintaining accurate records.
Responsibilities
- Travel to customer sites to diagnose and repair heavy equipment and vehicles.
- Perform inspections and preventive maintenance on equipment.
- Maintain records and reports of service activities.
- Diagnose mechanical and electrical problems and execute repairs.
- Utilize power and hand tools, as well as diagnostic equipment, for repairs.
- Conduct DOT inspections on trucks and trailers.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with customers and team members.
Requirements
- Valid Class 'A' Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
- Experience working on heavy-duty vehicles preferred.
- Knowledge of methods, materials, tools, and techniques used in vehicle repair and maintenance.
- Ability to diagnose mechanical and electrical issues.
- Familiarity with safety practices and procedures in equipment maintenance.
- Experience in mechanical design and fabrication.
