About the position

The Field Service Technician III - Traveler will support senior technicians in the operation and maintenance of utility-scale solar facilities. This role involves performing preventative and corrective maintenance on solar panels, trackers, and power inverters, ensuring the efficient functioning of electrical systems, and mentoring junior technicians.

Responsibilities

  • Assist senior Field Service Technicians with operating and maintaining utility scale solar facilities.
  • Troubleshoot low voltage DC power systems.
  • Troubleshoot low voltage, medium voltage, and high voltage AC power systems.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance on AC and DC power systems.
  • Identify faulty or underperforming equipment.
  • Use hand tools effectively and appropriately.
  • Utilize a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
  • Maintain inventory of spare parts and consumables.
  • Assist in the development of site operating procedures.
  • Follow site safety plan and safe work practices.
  • Adhere to proper Lock-out-tag-out (LOTO) practices and procedures.
  • Interface with project stakeholders (owners, equipment manufacturers, etc.).
  • Interface with project subcontractors.
  • Represent RES in a professional manner to project stakeholders.
  • Operate RES company vehicles in accordance with state and federal laws and RES policies.
  • Attend work regularly and punctually, as scheduled or expected.
  • Comply with Employee Handbook, Code of Conduct and Company Policies & Procedures.
  • Presets, supports, and leads by example with a safety and quality-oriented attitude.

Requirements

  • High school/GED General Education required.
  • 4+ years or more related electrical maintenance experience required.
  • 2+ years or more medium voltage electrical work experience required.
  • 1 year or more high voltage electrical work experience preferred.
  • Intermediate knowledge of high voltage electrical power systems and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
  • Advanced knowledge of low voltage, medium voltage, high voltage electrical power systems, drawings, circuit theory, OSHA regulations, equipment operation (skid-steer, forklift, etc.), job hazard analysis (JHA) creation, electrical tools (multimeter, IR camera), ANSI/NETA/MTS, and SCADA systems.

Nice-to-haves

  • Associate degree in a related technical field preferred.
  • Certification OSHA 10/30 preferred.
  • Certification FAA Part 107 Drone Pilot preferred.
