About the position

The Field Service Technician III position at ChampionX involves performing installation and maintenance of Electrical Submersible Pumps (ESP) and associated equipment. This role is critical in ensuring the operational efficiency of equipment in the oil and gas industry, requiring a blend of technical expertise and customer interaction. The technician will work in various locations, primarily in New Mexico, and will be part of a safety-focused culture that emphasizes training and personal protection.

Responsibilities

  • Perform installation and pulling of Electrical Submersible Pumps (ESP) and associated equipment.
  • Conduct service calls, diagnosing and implementing solutions for surface problems, including electrical issues and gas-locking pumps.
  • Safely operate motor vehicles to and from work sites, loading and unloading tools and equipment as needed.
  • Maintain the mechanical performance of the truck used for transportation to and from the field.
  • Adapt quickly to changing job assignments and work overtime with little or no advance notice.
  • Comply with company policies, procedures, and safety requirements.
  • Complete daily timesheets of hours worked.
  • Collaborate frequently with internal and external customers.
  • Train and coach new hires and mentor lower-level technicians at the well site.

Requirements

  • 5 years of experience in a related field.
  • Advanced understanding of mechanical and electrical concepts for ESP installations.
  • Advanced understanding of startup, operation, and troubleshooting of variable speed drives and surface equipment.
  • Ability to train Field Service Technician I and II.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Basic knowledge of industrial safety and proper use of hand tools.
  • Basic knowledge of wiring and cabling.
  • Analytical and problem-solving ability.
  • Intermediate oral and written communication skills.
  • Organization and time management skills.
  • Basic math skills.
  • Ability to follow prescribed company policies and procedures for installation, service, and equipment maintenance.
  • Ability to interact politely and professionally with customers and coworkers.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, and customers.
