About the position

The Field Service Technician role is focused on providing technical support and installation services for a managed services provider in New York. The position involves physical equipment installation, troubleshooting, and support for various operating systems and devices, ensuring clients receive high-quality service in their IT environments.

Responsibilities

  • Install physical equipment such as servers, switches, UPSes, wireless access points, and large displays.
  • Perform Ethernet cable runs and terminations, including punching down jacks and patch panels.
  • Provide operating system and application level support for desktops, laptops, and mobile devices.
  • Support hardware for various office devices, including mobile devices and IP phones.
  • Troubleshoot local network, wireless, and internet connectivity issues.
  • Work with low voltage devices and wiring.

Requirements

  • Fluency in spoken and written English with excellent communication skills.
  • Strong focus on customer service and professional presentation.
  • Basic knowledge of TCP/IP networking and familiarity with common networking protocols.
  • Ability to convey complex situations and report on difficult problems accurately.
  • Valid driver's license and a vehicle for service calls.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with cabling (1 year preferred).
  • High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).
