About the position

The Field Service Technician role at Hiab involves performing service tasks such as preventive maintenance, safety checks, corrective actions, upgrades, and refurbishments on equipment at various locations. The technician is responsible for maintaining productive customer relationships and adhering to best practices in both administrative and technical activities. This position requires travel to Mount Pleasant, MI, and surrounding areas, with a focus on ensuring customer satisfaction and safety compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive maintenance, safety checks, and corrective actions on equipment.
  • Stay updated with technical developments and specifications of relevant equipment.
  • Respond to customer inquiries to maximize satisfaction as instructed by the District Service Manager.
  • Follow safety rules and environmental requirements while operating service vehicles.
  • Inspect, troubleshoot, report, plan, and conduct service or repair as instructed.
  • Submit regular reports and maintain documentation as per standards.
  • Plan and manage time and resources effectively for maximum benefit.
  • Recognize and communicate sales opportunities to the District Service Manager.
  • Provide feedback for continuous quality improvement and coach junior colleagues.

Requirements

  • High School diploma/GED required; Technical or Secondary College preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience in mechanical, hydraulic, or electrical operations preferred.
  • Working technical knowledge related to all Hiab product lines including mechanicals, hydraulics, electrics, and electronics.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a 1-year DOT Medical Card.
  • Fluent in local language and working knowledge of English, spoken and written.
  • Operators licenses for all equipment used in line with local requirements.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in mentoring or coaching junior colleagues.
  • Basic computer skills.
