About the position

The Field Service Technician at Motorola Solutions plays a crucial role in providing technical support for specialized communication systems and product applications. This position focuses on advanced troubleshooting, provisioning of communication system infrastructure, and optimizing performance across various RF and Broadband architectures. The technician will work closely with engineering, project management, and sales teams to ensure that communication systems meet or exceed customer expectations, contributing to the company's mission of enhancing safety and security through technology.

Responsibilities

• Optimize and support complex communication systems and software applications.
• Perform advanced troubleshooting of software-driven electronics.
• Provision communication system infrastructure and optimize performance of RF and Broadband systems.
• Maintain, optimize, test, and document complex communications systems.
• Conduct preventative maintenance routines to ensure proper system operation, focusing on trend analysis and documentation of results.
• Maintain server hardware/OS and software infrastructure, troubleshooting to resolve system/application related issues.
• Develop solutions to difficult technical problems encountered during system maintenance, upgrades, or support issues.
• Collaborate with engineering, project management, and sales personnel to effectively maintain and support advanced communication systems.

Requirements

• 8+ years of technical work experience.
• Associates degree, technical school certification, military training, or equivalent on-the-job experience.
• Legal authorization to work in the U.S. indefinitely is required.
• Network+, CompTIA or related certificate is highly desirable.
• Proficient in computer network installation, configuration, and maintenance systems including cabling, routers, switches, firewalls, and bridges.
• Understanding of RF, telecommunications, and wired communications systems, such as LAN and WAN.
• Knowledge of computer systems (hardware, operating systems, and applications) and intermediate networking knowledge.
• Proficient in the use of test equipment (e.g., T1 and ethernet testers, antenna systems analyzers, communications systems analyzers, spectrum analyzers).
• Experience with logging recording systems, RF interfaces, wired/wireless communications systems, and networking equipment.
• Self-motivated and able to quickly learn new system types and technologies.

Nice-to-haves

• Preferred experience with LTE or Private LTE systems.
• Knowledge of Nokia systems, Juniper Routers, and Aruba Switches configuration work.
• Experience with Land Mobile Radio (LMR) systems.
