About the position
This position involves the installation, setup, repair, and ongoing maintenance of vending, cooling, and fountain equipment at customer locations. The technician will work independently, frequently interacting with customers, and will be responsible for diagnosing equipment issues and determining the best course of action for repairs or replacements.
Responsibilities
- Repair and perform preventative maintenance on marketing equipment.
- Unload and reload equipment with products as necessary.
- Educate customers on basic equipment repair and upkeep procedures.
- Install equipment by making holes and routing lines to connect products to dispensing units, including connecting water and gas supply and finding drains for ice units.
- Fill installed equipment and adjust to proper mixture.
- Prioritize and schedule service and preventative maintenance calls to meet customer service windows.
- Drive to locations, evaluate situations, and perform necessary work, which may include plumbing, electricity, refrigeration, and carpentry.
- Collect accurate and complete equipment and customer information.
- Remove old parts and replace them with new parts.
- Maintain parts inventory on the service truck.
- Establish positive relationships with contacts during service calls.
- Complete paperwork on jobs after each call and submit paperwork every two hours.
- Transport miscellaneous items such as compressors for repair or recycling.
Requirements
- Must be 18 years or older; 21 years or older if a CDL is required.
- Valid CDL license with Non-Excepted Interstate Status (if applicable).
- Pass DOT Physical and DOT Road-test (if required).
- Adhere to DOT Regulations.
- Senior technician requires certification in refrigeration and must pass refrigeration certification Type I/Type II practices (if applicable).
Nice-to-haves
- Experience working with mechanical systems, including troubleshooting and repairing appliances.
- Experience serving customers and resolving customer issues.
- Familiarity with basic refrigeration systems and understanding the refrigeration cycle.
- Experience working with electrical systems and plumbing.
