About the position

The Field Service Technician Co-Op at Motorola Solutions offers a hands-on opportunity for students to work with skilled technical leaders in the organization. This role focuses on supporting public safety customers in the Mid-Atlantic area by applying academic principles to real-world challenges in telecommunications and networking. The position emphasizes problem-solving in high-pressure situations and involves maintaining complex communications systems while collaborating with various teams within the company.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Mid-Atlantic Motorola Solutions Center in field activities.
  • Provide technical support on specialized telecommunications systems and public safety product applications.
  • Maintain and document complex communications systems.
  • Provide weekly reports of activities and accomplishments.
  • Develop solutions to technical problems encountered during system maintenance or upgrades.
  • Engage in continuous training on the latest technologies and troubleshooting techniques.

Requirements

  • Must be a current student in a 2-year or 4-year program at a college, university, or technical school.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen with the ability to obtain necessary security clearance.
  • Must possess a current and valid driver's license with a clean driving record.

Nice-to-haves

  • Desire to pursue a certification in Security+, Network+, CCNA, or NRS1.
  • Knowledge of wired communications systems, such as LAN and WAN.
  • Willingness to learn about RF interfaces and systems like transmitters and receivers.
  • Interest in standard telephony and packet switching techniques.
