About the position

The Field Service Technician role at Compass Resourcing Group, LLC involves providing on-site support for testing, repairing, upgrading, reconditioning, and re-manufacturing electrical equipment. The technician will work with a variety of electrical apparatus, ensuring that equipment operates safely and efficiently while collaborating with customers and engineering teams to deliver effective solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Perform power studies (short circuit, coordination, arc flash) and develop reports with recommendations.
  • Conduct load monitoring and provide reports.
  • Perform power quality monitoring and interpret collected data, making recommendations as needed.
  • Conduct partial discharge surveys and develop reports.
  • Manage jobs from beginning to end using established processes and procedures.
  • Collaborate with customers and the engineering division to provide solutions.
  • Consult with customers on product-related questions and make recommendations.
  • Perform breaker reconditioning and be prepared for on-call or after-hours emergency orders.
  • Clean electrical parts and perform metal cutting and welding as needed.
  • Remove and reinstall electrical components in switchgear and circuit breakers with documentation.
  • Choose correct insulation and install it over copper bus.
  • Troubleshoot and repair switchgear and circuit breakers.
  • Rack breakers in and out of cubicles and understand correct interlock positions.
  • Choose and apply correct paints and primers for equipment.
  • Read manuals and follow detailed instructions for equipment adjustments.
  • Assist senior personnel in validating subsystem functionality and electrical design operation.
  • Read wire breakers, switchgear, and MCC's from point-to-point diagrams.
  • Follow NETA testing processes for electrical apparatus.
  • Generate electrical schematics of industrial equipment and test electrical wiring.
  • Perform evaluations on electrical devices and circuits, including circuit breakers and transformers.
  • Stage test equipment and materials for project execution and interpret test results.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED certification.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair mechanical and electrical machinery.
  • Knowledge of electrical apparatus including 480V, 5KV, and 15KV is a plus.
  • Ability to learn to troubleshoot electrical and mechanical problems and repair them.
  • Ability to maintain good housekeeping of the work area.
  • Ability to use measuring tools (vernier caliper, micrometer, tape measure, etc.).
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and occasionally up to 75 pounds.
  • Mechanically inclined and must have own tools.
  • Detail-oriented with a great attitude and team player mentality.

  • Strong organizational skills and excellent attention to detail.
  • Good time management skills and ability to multi-task.
