About the position

The Field Service Technician role at Quadient involves traveling to customer locations to provide service, maintenance, and installation of equipment. The technician will be responsible for ensuring that equipment is installed and functioning properly while managing customer relationships to enhance satisfaction and retention. This position requires a blend of technical skills and customer service expertise to effectively troubleshoot and resolve issues, as well as to provide training and support to clients.

Responsibilities

  • Install, service, or upgrade equipment onsite at customer locations.
  • Diagnose technical issues, troubleshoot problems, and identify solutions to ensure effective functioning of equipment and controls.
  • Collaborate with customers to understand their requirements and provide appropriate technical recommendations and solutions.
  • Provide training and guidance to customers on the proper operation and maintenance of products.
  • Configure hardware and software components after installation.
  • Perform routine maintenance on technology equipment.
  • Test equipment to troubleshoot issues.
  • Keep clients apprised of progress during maintenance or a down system situation.
  • Maintain all tools and equipment used during service calls.
  • Teach customers how to use the equipment properly.
  • Manage the stock of replacement parts and equipment.
  • Effectively articulate and document technical issues for escalation.
  • Evaluate customer needs and initiate additional products or services.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED or equivalent work experience.
  • 1-2 years of electrical/mechanical installation, troubleshooting, and repair experience.
  • 1-2 years of experience in Customer Service or equivalent experience.
  • Strong technical aptitude with the ability to diagnose and repair complex equipment and controls.
  • Proficiency in reading technical diagrams, manuals, and schematics.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with customers, sales, and technology teams.
  • Strong attention to detail and follow-up skills with the ability to identify and resolve problems.
  • Ability to problem solve and operate independently.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and adapt as priorities change.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to lift or move 55lbs with or without accommodation.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a similar field service role.
  • Familiarity with automation processes and technology.
