About the position

The Field Service Technician (FST) at ChampionX plays a crucial role in maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing pump systems specifically designed for the upstream and midstream oil and gas industry. This position requires a blend of technical skills and customer service, ensuring that equipment operates efficiently and safely while adhering to company policies and safety regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Perform installation, maintenance, and repairs of Electrical Submersible Pumps (ESP) and associated equipment.
  • Conduct service calls to diagnose, recommend, and implement solutions for surface problems, including electrical issues and gas-locking pumps.
  • Complete shop work such as pump repairs, cable work, and inventory management when field work is not required.
  • Timely complete all required documentation of service tasks and utilized parts.
  • Provide regular updates to the Operations Manager regarding service status and client feedback.
  • Safely operate motor vehicles to and from work sites, loading and unloading tools and equipment as necessary.
  • Adjust quickly to changing job assignments and work overtime with little notice.
  • Comply with all company policies, procedures, and safety requirements.
  • Complete daily timesheets of hours worked.
  • Collaborate frequently with internal and external customers.
  • Strictly adhere to safety protocols and standards relevant to the oil and gas sector.
  • Manage and maintain all tools, equipment, and vehicles, ensuring regular checks and maintenance are performed.
  • Travel to remote locations to perform duties and participate in on-call rotation as required.

Requirements

  • 1 year of industry or related field experience.
  • Ability to regularly attend work and work in excess of 8 hours per day and 40 hours per week as required.
  • Must operate independently, prioritize tasks, and manage time effectively.
  • Effective communication skills with a focus on customer satisfaction.
  • Basic understanding of safety regulations and protocols in the oil and gas industry.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English.
  • Basic math skills and computer proficiency for communication and data access.

Nice-to-haves

  • Understanding of mechanical and electrical concepts for ESP installations.
